Nadine Peacock

Nadine recently retired from her position as Associate Vice Chancellor in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Prior to that, she spent 26 years as a tenured faculty member in UIC’s School of Public Health, the last six of which she also served as Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion.  Dr. Peacock has undergraduate training in anthropology and photojournalism, a PhD in anthropology, and postdoctoral training in public health and reproductive endocrinology. Her research interests are broadly around social and cultural influences on women’s reproductive health, infant health and health inequities.  She has conducted anthropological and public health research in Congo and in Kisumu, Kenya, as well as among urban communities in the U.S. In her administrative roles, she worked on pathways to academic success for persons from under-represented backgrounds, including adult learners, parents and justice-involved persons. Dr. Peacock has served as a board member and Chair of the Guttmacher Institute in New York, and of PING!, a nonprofit organization that assures equitable access to elementary and high school music programs in Illinois.
